Walden Community Garden

Just east of the Brown/Hoag barn is the Walden Community Garden. This half-acre community garden project has been operating since 2003, and is run by students from the Walden Project and by Willowell Foundation employees. The garden produces an abundance of fruits, vegetables, herbs and flowers during the late summer and fall. If you would like to learn more about the Walden Community Garden, Click Here.

The Willowell Land
Virtual Land Walk: Arrival, Barn and Garden
Arrival
Your visit to the Willowell Land begins by turning onto Stoney
Meadow Lane from the Bristol-Monkton Road and parking beside
the barn.
From the parking area off of Stoney Meadow Lane, the Willowell Land generally slopes east toward Pond Brook, which forms its eastern border. The Barn and Walden Community Garden, next to the parking area, are at the highest point of the property. The Low Woodland, Pond Brook Wetland, and Low Field, last stops on this tour, are at the lowest, easternmost parts of the property.
Brown/Hoag Barn

You park next to the historic Brown/Hoag Barn. Built in 1803, the barn was restored this past summer to preserve it for future generations.
