Since 2007, Willowell has offered the Keeping Track® Monitoring Program (KTMP) to area educators and community members. The program is taught by renowned tracker, photographer and habitat specialist, Susan Morse and seeks to empower citizens to observe, interpret, record and monitor evidence of wildlife habitat in their communities. The training includes six full day field workshops with Sue and two evening classes with slideshows.
Participants that complete the training will have the opportunity to become part of a team of citizen scientists collecting scientific data at specific areas of natural interest in the Champlain Valley. This is part of a conservation and education project, in partnership the Northeast Wilderness Trust, looking to preserve a wildlife corridor between the Green Mountains and Adirondack Park. The Wilderness Trust will also be training a group of citizens with Keeping Track for wildlife monitoring in the Essex, NY area.
Conservation committees, planners, naturalists, hunters, trackers, students and anyone with a love of the outdoors and learning about our wild places are encouraged to apply. Click the button to the right for registration details.
