Magical Forest Creatures

ReTribe welcomes the Chimpmunk Clan to our village out in the forest! Come build fairy homes, make magic wands, tell stories and explore the woods, the creek and the magical worlds of our imaginations. The chipmunk clan will join the coyote clan for morning songs as well as stories around the fire at lunch and will play a part in the fantasy adventure world. They will also create a camp of their own in the forest where they can enjoy games and activities that are age appropriate with ReTribe staff and early educators Emily and Teddy.

Over the past nine years Emily has worked in childcare and education in multiple settings ranging from private and public schools, to working as an in-home nanny. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Natural Resources with a concentration in Resource Ecology from the University of Vermont, as well as a certificate in Permaculture Design. She worked as a Preschool Teacher at Stepping Stones Early Childhood Center from September 2014 to June 2015.  Emily enjoys playing into the curiosity of children as a means to help them explore and ponder the natural world and gain a greater sense of place. Emily has also worked for ReTribe as a staff member and chef on our teen overnight retreats for the past 3 summers.

Teddy has worked with youth and teens in a variety of environments for over a decade.  He is currently a mentor at ReTribe‘s Richmond Forest School and co-runs Chipmunk Clan as well as works with ReTribe s teen retreats. He has spent six summers as a camp counselor in southern Indiana, taught environmental education at The Ecology School at Ferry Beach on the coast of Maine, was previously the after school program director at River Rock School in Montpelier, Vermont, and apprenticed and volunteered for two years at Earthwalk Vermont in Plainfield, Vermont.  An avid lover of weather, Teddy graduated from Valparaiso University in 2010 with an undergraduate degree in meteorology.  He has spent thousands of miles storm chasing across the great plains, performed NASA-funded atmospheric research in Japan, and also interned with the affordable housing non-profit, Community Rebuilds, in Moab, Utah, helping build straw bale houses.  Currently, Teddy resides in Montpelier, Vermont, where he spends his time singing to people and plants, writing poetry, wandering the woods, and synergistically bedazzling humans and foods of all ages at the Hunger Mountain Co-op. Overall, Teddy is thrilled to have the opportunity to playfully and wholeheartedly grow with youth, teens, and staff for his second summer at ReTribe!
