Side Roots Tutoring

OVERVIEW

As an adjunct to New Roots in 2021-2022, Ethan Mitchell will be offering individual or small-group tutoring at the New Roots site. Topics will include mathematics, different types of reading, plant and animal taxonomy, and history. Students are encouraged to suggest topics: the point here is to make sure we've got you covered.

Ethan is also available to assist students with independent projects in these time slots. For homeschoolers, Side Roots will ensure a well-documented learning process for later portfolios.

Thursday and Friday afternoons (12:00 - 2:30, two class blocks each)

The exact schedule will be posted online as the fall approaches; if you want any particular topics covered, contact Ethan at trelevenfarm@gmail.com

Side Roots is envisioned as complementary to the New Roots program, but it is not part of New Roots. Students who come to Side Roots classes are expected to attend the class; there is no supervision for playing at the Willowell site before, after, or during the classes.

Ethan Mitchell

Ethan Mitchell has been teaching at the Walden Project, and in various other places, for 15 years. He focuses on history and mathematics, but he likes teaching a wide variety of subjects through the lens of history and math. He's also a dad, an essayist, a researcher, and a dreamer. He spends a lot of time cooking, canning, coding, and doing construction.
